In Memorial, Julia Lane

This memorial is in tribute to Julia Lane who was a rising star within the geoscience community. Julia was lost in a light aircraft accident in Yukon on August 6th, 2019. She was 33 years old.
Julia stood out early as an exceptional geologist after starting her career in 2007 with Archer, Cathro & Associates (1981) Limited, a geological consulting company. Julia’s ambition and passion for geology ultimately led her to becoming a partner at Archer Cathro and the Vice President of Exploration for ATAC Resources Ltd.
Much of Julia’s career centered on the discovery and advancement of Canada’s first Carlin-type deposits.She devoted most of her last ten years becoming an expert on Carlin-type deposits and became highly recognized around the world for her work on these types of deposits. Julia was widely admired for her ability to run geologically and logistically complex mineral exploration programs with extraordinary poise, and led the design and implementation of every Rackla Gold Project exploration program for ATAC Resources Ltd. since 2009.
Julia was a natural and humble leader who was excited to share her knowledge with aspiring women and men in the geoscience community. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her and will be remembered for her kindness, energy, contagious enthusiasm, passion for geology and her ability to keep things fun.
